Atlassian Cloud Enters the AI Era: Platform and Deployment Announcements from Team ’25 Europe
[Atlassian Cloud], [Enterprise Teams], [Enterprise], [Atlassian]
At Team ’25 Europe, Atlassian doubled down on their cloud-first, AI-powered vision. Under the leadership of Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian positioned Cloud as the foundation for the AI era, introducing new scale, deployment models, segmentation capabilities, and a refreshed admin experience.
Below is a look at the highlights — and how catworkx can help you navigate this next phase.
Cloud Platform at Scale
Atlassian’s cloud journey has reached a new milestone. With most customers already operating in the cloud and large enterprises accelerating their migrations, Atlassian is scaling its platform to meet enterprise-level demands. The focus is now on performance, reliability, and flexibility —ensuring that even the most complex organizations can confidently run at massive scale.
-
Atlassian says 98% of European customers are already on or in the process of moving to Cloud.
-
Among the most complex / regulated organizations, 75% are migrating.
-
Infrastructure scale increases: a single Jira site is now capable of supporting up to 250,000 users.
-
In Confluence, individual sites can go up to 250,000 users.
These upgrades demonstrate that Atlassian is preparing its cloud to support the largest enterprises and the most demanding use cases.
New Deployment Options
As organizations face growing demands around data sovereignty, compliance, and operational isolation, Atlassian is broadening its deployment models to give enterprises more flexibility in how they adopt Cloud. These new options extend beyond scale — they’re about meeting regional, regulatory, and security requirements without sacrificing the benefits of a unified platform.

Commercial Cloud
The standard enterprise-grade cloud offering, designed for scalability, resilience, and continuous innovation.

Government Cloud
Built to meet strict public sector requirements. Currently FedRAMP Moderate authorized, with FedRAMP High and IL5 certifications in progress.

Isolated Cloud*
A single-tenant deployment option with dedicated compute, storage, and networking resources. It allows organizations to define their own collaboration rules and AI data contexts.
* - General Availability is planned for 2026, including full support for European regions.
Together, these options provide enterprises with new levels of control over data boundaries, compliance posture, and collaboration governance, while maintaining the power of the Atlassian Cloud platform.
The “Units” Concept (Launching 2026)
One of the more compelling announcements is Units — a model to create segmented environments based on function, team, or data domain.
With Units, organizations will be able to set up:
-
Separate user directories, apps, and data boundaries per unit
-
Tailored collaboration rules (e.g. who can share across units)
-
Isolated “AI contexts” so data used by AI features is scoped to each unit
-
Distinct Teamwork Graphs per unit (ensuring no cross-data sharing)
This means large organizations can maintain more autonomy and separation where needed, without fragmenting their tooling ecosystem.
Admin Experience Upgrades
To support the complexity of modern Atlassian Cloud, Atlassian also announced improvements to the admin interface:
-
A modernized admin sidebar and more streamlined navigation across admin tasks
-
Better coherence and search to surface relevant settings quickly
-
Improvements already rolling out in Atlassian’s admin UI to improve layout, readability, and accessibility
These changes aim to reduce friction for cloud admins managing many products, apps, and configurations.
