Troubleshooting performance issues is not a trivial process and can be quite complicated. This is due to the number of different configurations possible for JIRA applications, such as different versions, plugins, networks, hardware configurations, and other factors. As an Atlassian Solution Partner, we know a lot of tricks to approach this complex task.
In performance tuning, it is especially important to have good data to analyze. Therefore, in most cases, we start by logging performance data. Depending on the result, we then look at the database, queries, cache tuning, HTTP compression or other measures and deduce the need for action. The result: a scalable performance that is constantly monitored.
In the Atlassian Cloud, there are fewer set screws for optimizing performance. This is because the cloud allows fewer configuration options in terms of hosting, hardware and configuration. Nonetheless, sometimes performance degradation occurs in the cloud as well. In many cases, the responsibility for fixing these issues then lies with Atlassian but there are also sometimes configuration issues that are on the customer side. So our first task is to assess whether we have the ability on the customer side to fix the problem. For example, custom field configurations or JQL queries can already play a significant role in Agile boards. If we can't do anything with these, we also have the option of escalating the problem to Atlassian.
