Audit successfully passed: Process optimization according to Automotive SPICE® with SAFe® and Atlassian tools

A leading automotive supplier specializing in drivetrain technologies aimed to have its extensive development project processes certified by an external auditor according to the Automotive SPICE® standard. The company collaborated with catworkx to optimize its project management and associated processes. The challenge was to integrate the traditional V-model with agile methodologies, as individual teams were already working agilely using Jira Software, but lacked a unified approach. To align the existing agile practices with Automotive SPICE®, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) was implemented, facilitating scaling from team-level planning to overall project planning. Key process adjustments included introducing consistent estimation methods and a shared understanding of planning horizons, incorporating Program Increments (PIs) and synchronized sprints. Tools such as BigPicture Enterprise, Structure for Jira, and eazyBI Reports and Charts for Jira were integrated to support these processes. BigPicture served as the central tool for overall project planning, Structure allowed teams to generate specific reports, and eazyBI provided comprehensive reporting at the management level. This restructuring led to increased transparency across teams, improved project planning, and successful certification according to Automotive SPICE®.
